A Royal Decoration bestowed on Soipetch for Service to Society

On 5 December 2008, H.M. King Bumiphol Aduljadej, on the occasion of H.M.’s Birthday Celebration, bestowed the Royal Decoration Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Admirable Order of the Direkgunabhorn on Dr. Soipetch Resanond for her service to Kingdom, State, Religion and People. Soipetch set up the Suvanvajokkasikij Fund in honor of her grandfather, Luang Suvanvajokkasikij, the founder of Kasetsart University. She established two public welfare foundations, Phuphanudomdhammanusorn Foundation and Promkunaram Foundation, to support the development of Phuphanudomdham Temple in Na Kae, Nakon Phanom, and Promkunaram Temple in Arizona, USA, respectively. Currently she is Chairperson of the Moleelokayaram Pali Language School Project under Royal Patronage at Moleelokayaram Temple in Thonburi, commemorating H.M. The King’s 7th Circle Anniversary. The projects support youth eduction, moral, cultural and career training.

Rotary

Philip is a member of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South since 1988. He has served on the club’s board six times and was the club’s President in 1998/99. Philip is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Luang Sit Fellow.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
